Enter Terry Hagen, a dedicated Marine Corps officer with a heart of gold and a reputation for going the extra mile for those under his command. When Terry crossed paths with Dan, he saw beyond the tarnished record and recognized the potential for change. We'll hear about the challenges Dan encountered as he worked tirelessly to prove himself worthy of a second shot at serving his country. From grueling training to overcoming skepticism from fellow Marines, Dan's determination never wavered.

Send us a text

John Warren - The U.S. Marines Corps is the greatest fighting force on the planet, but it’s so much more than that: it’s a factory for producing first-rate leaders, problem-solvers, and innovators.

In 2006, John Warren and John Thompson led Marines into combat in the world’s most dangerous city: Ramadi, Iraq. But when they got home, employers didn’t understand what they had to offer. Undeterred, they founded their own specialty mortgage company, growing it from scratch into a national powerhouse over the course of a decade.

When the two decorated veterans applied the values and training of the U.S. Marine Corps to build a thriving business, they defied corporate America’s expectations. That’s because they realized that, far from producing mindless drones, the Corps trains its warriors in adaptability, initiative, and courage—ideal traits for anyone in leadership.

THE FRONTIERSMAN

My name is Joshua Fortner. I'm a U.S. Marine, a former Boy Scout, and love history and living as much of my life outdoors as possible. I stumbled upon leatherwork in 2013. I was inspired by the history and gear of the frontiersmen of America's past. Leather has been used since the beginning of time, and I wanted to use this natural material to hand craft simple, yet high quality bespoke items that YOU would be proud to pass down to your children and grandchildren.

The Primal Outfitters Inc. is a military driven 501c(3) Non profit orginization. Established in 2022 by United States Marine Corps Infantry veteran Josh Gunneson "Gunne". His vision and belief is that getting our active duty, veterans, first responders and our Gold / Blue Star families into the great outdoors is a way to escape the challenges of every day life and give them a chance to "live while they are trying to survive."

Josh was raised by his Grandfather learning how to hunt, fish and camp from a very young age. Wanting to follow in his Grandfathers footsteps and serve our country Josh joined the Marine Corps out of highschool. Where he served with 2nd Battalion 7th Marines Golf Company "Gunfighters" from 2009-2014. After losing 47 of his brothers to suicide over the years and then his beloved Grandfather passing in the spring of 2022 before he could take him fishing one last time. Josh knew it was his calling to try and make a difference by helping create cherishable memories that will last a lifetime.

60 - Chief Sunny Yeung United States Navy active duty

Chief Sunny Yeung is a Chinese immigrant and joined the Navy right out of high school. Join us as he tells his story of serving in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Religious Program Specialist.

As a Religious Program Specialist (RP), you’re more than a facilitator of religious services. To our Sailors, you are the listening ear, helping hand and friendly face they may need to get through tough times.

From Judaism and Hinduism, to Christianity and Islam, Religious Program Specialists ensure that every Sailor has proper access to the resources needed to follow their faith. This includes duties like preparing devotional materials, organizing faith-based events, maintaining religious records and serving as a source of personal security for Navy Chaplains.

The role of a Religious Program Specialist is about bringing Sailors together and helping to support their mental health through faith, whether they’re religious or not. From suicide prevention, to relationship advice, to self-esteem issues, you will make sure your fellow Sailors always have someone to talk to and a solution to their problems.

57 - Amelia Presley Coast Guard veteran

Send us a text

57 - Amelia Presley joined the US Coast Guard as a teenager to generate funds to kick off her singing/songwriting career.

https://ameliapresleymusic.com/home

When you hear Amelia Presley sing, it is impossible not to hear pangs of profound sorrow wrapped in a soulful voice fraught with struggle and deeply buried secrets.  It’s a burned up and scarred over foundation from which her songs have been harvested, and she a phoenix born of the very flames that have tried to consume her completely.  Through her newly acquired liberation from her own emotional self-imprisonment, she aims only to set the record straight with the release of her new single “Harm Nobody Else,” and in so doing, act as key- bearer to others who find themselves in that same kind of bondage. Amelia Presley doesn’t want pity.  She only wants you to listen.

“Harm Nobody Else” took only minutes to write, but was over 25 years in the making.  Physical abuse is often that way, something that is kept in the shadows out of shame until one tear drop too many falls and forces the flood gates to open. From the age of 3 years old to the age of 15, Amelia silently bore the crushing blows of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her step mother.  Keeping silent seemed her only recourse; early on because the 3-year-old toddler did not have the emotional capacity to understand what was happening nor the words to cry for help, years afterwards because by then it was just a fact of life…normal.  Through her young adulthood Amelia moved on and away from the Mississippi mud she grew up in and went on to achieve several cherished titles: singer, songwriter, 5-year military veteran and mother.  All of these hard won and precious accomplishments could not clear a place for her broken soul to rest because unhealed wounds only fester. So, she decided it was time to lance the wound and let the poison out.  The release of “Harm Nobody Else” comes on the heels of a podcast called “The Insignificant Diary of a Burden Named Phoenix” in which Amelia tells for the first time the story of the 13 years of abuse she endured.  With this declaration she hopes to help other survivors validate their own feelings by facing them head on rather than living under the burden of their abuser’s secret.

56 - Terry McIntosh Vietnam Green Beret

Send us a text

Terry McIntosh completed Airborne Parachute School in 1967 at age 17 and was assigned to Co. D, 17th Infantry Long Range Patrol in Germany. The LRRP unit was an elite airborne light infantry force capable of conducting Direct Action Operations. The "Lurps" operated on reconnaissance and combat patrols to obtain vital intelligence or perform highly dangerous covert missions into enemy held territory, and remained on high alert throughout the Cold War.McIntosh was skilled in automatic weapons, radio communications, and special operations.

Due to heavy US casualties at the height of the Vietnam War, McIntosh re-enlisted for an additional year and volunteered for a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (ABN) in 1968. He served 6 months on A-Team 414 in the Mekong Delta 1969 as one of the youngest men in military history to wear the Green Beret and serve on a Special Forces A-Team. He commanded or participated in 22 combat missions to include Search & Destroy, Ambush, Airboat, and Aerial Assault Missions. He served with Col. Robert Rheault’s espionage team at the time of the execution of a double agent (Thai Khac Chuyen) which sparked Daniel Ellsberg's compilation and eventual release of the Pentagon Papers. See also “Project Gamma.”

His tour of duty included a short term assignment to Nui Coto, a fortified Viet Cong stronghold in the 7 Mountains area at end of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. McIntosh became ill and was medivac to 29th Evac hospital in Can Tho. He was diagnosed with "Fever of Unknown Origin" and returned to duty at A-414 upon recovery.

Awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Army Commendation Medal, VSM w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Civil Actions Medal, Expert Badge (Rifle), United States, Vietnamese, and German Parachute Wings, and other awards. McIntosh finished his military service with the 75th Rangers, and was Honorably Discharged in 1971. He attained the rank of Sergeant E-5.

Unofficial Mark of Distinctive Service:

McIntosh is one of the youngest men, if not the actual youngest, to ever wear the Green Beret into combat and serve on an A-Team. Military Records verify that he was assigned to Special Forces at age 18 and at the height of the Vietnam War because of his military skills. The median age of Special Forces soldiers was about 30 to 35 years old. The Group had suffered high causality rate Tet68, and temporarily dropped the age requirement to 18 in order to fill much needed positions. In spite of the age drop, SF only recruited those qualified in a critical Military Occupational Skill. The assignment demanded skill, determination, and ability in keeping with SF standards. McIntosh was accepted by his team members without question. They were all getting shot at regardless of age, and it was during a time when a soldier was judged by his actions more than anything else.

McIntosh earned his Combat Infantryman Badge at age 19 during a Search & Destroy mission in the Mekong Delta. Lt. Col. Wesley Herrlein was OIC with air support, and ten enemy soldiers were killed in action. A citation of combat was submitted, and orders for the award were cut Feb 23, 1969. McIntosh was assigned assigned to Det. A-414 in Thanh Tri, a rifle shot from the Cambodian border. He spent 170 days on the A-Team.

"Anton Harb Jr., served in a U.S. Army Reconnissance unit as a Field Artillery Officer. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the military in 2007, Anton continued serving his country as a civilian Federal Employee within several departments of the Executive Branch. The struggles of PTSD from combat and government service led Anton to becoming disabled in 2016.

After years of being poisoned with legally prescribed prescription medications, Anton discovered the therapeutic effects of medical cannabis. As a survivor of combat, suicide and cancer, Anton has become a staunch advocate within the medical cannabis community. Anton is passionate about assisting his community and fellow veterans in understanding that medical cannabis can be a life saving alternative to over prescribed prescription medications. Anton hopes to be an example of how being disabled can be both empowering, and positively impactful within his community."
